Open Art Studio

We took a meander down Loop Street, anticipating a dreary lunch in some streetside shop, with a Coca-Cola sponsored sign. Luckily for us, good karma and the will of the gods places in front of Open Art. Nosey parkers as we are, we wandered up the stairs (and what may as well have been along the yellow-brick road) to have a peek. What a fantasmagorical place. Firstly, the gallery. It is so so rare that I like that much modern art in one place. In addition, my attending lunch-mate and I, NEVER agree on art. So that fact that we were both standing there smitten at the sight and smell of oils and enamels, is really quite something. The gallery has that "we tidied up the garage" feel to it. Nothing pretentious, nothing clinical.

THE LOCALS-ONLY LIFESTYLE MEMBERSHIP CARD RESIDENCY ACTIVITIES It’s not hard to notice when Cape Town ‘season’ opens, as thousands of Ed Hardy wearing, leather sandal rocking and/or camera-round-the-neck-clad local and international tourists take to the city with a vengeance and, with prices hiked up due to the influx of foreign currency, can be seen dominating everything from our restaurants and bars, to Cape Town’s world renown adventure activities, making it almost impossible for our locals to take advantage of all that Cape Town has to offer. Residency is the solution – a lifestyle membership card exclusive to Cape Town residents. On signing up, members receive a hand delivered

Jack Parow

Dans Dans Dans music video out soon

Referred to as "Bob Dylan of the northern suburbs", "pirate of the caravan park" and "an Afrikaans Eminem", Zander Tyler is more popularly known for his on-stage persona as Jack Parow - one of South Africa's most prominent popular culture icons. As "Cooler as Ekke"has monopolized African airwaves, Afrikaans, Mothercity-made Jack Parow, has become one of South Africa's local loves. At the early end of the decade, musical movements that tore Afrikaans music apart from religious zeal, resulted in the Belville Rock city phenomena - and so spawned bands the likes of Fokofpolisiekar,aKing, and Van Coke Kartel. So while Afrikaans music was once ripe with religious evangelism, the noughties saw it slowly became synonymous with
