Open Streets Cape Town kicked off its Walk&Talk series on Wednesday the 23rd of January 2013 on Bree Street with a walk from Prestwich Memorial along the ‘Fan Walk’ and along Bree Street, exchanging views on how to create a more people-friendly and respectful space. The walk highlighted ways in which the city could attract more people on foot, bicycles and skateboards, comparing local design with international best practice. The group discussed the importance of enforcement, and considered ideas to reduce conflict between cyclists and motorists. As we all know, Lady Gaga will perform at Cape Town Stadium on Monday 5 December 2012. The City of Cape Town has put an extensive public transport plan in place to transport concert-goers to and from the event. Gates will open at 16:00 on the day, with the main performance scheduled from 21:00 to 23:00. “The City estimates that 45 000 people will attend the concert, so our best advice to concert-goers is to arrive early, make use of public transport if possible and avoid peak hour traffic,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, Councillor Grant Pascoe. Green Point is set to sizzle this weekend with spectacular sequins, costumed performers, 11 giant decorated floats, African queens and about 2000 dancers. No, it's not gay pride, it's Cape Town's biggest annual party, the Cape Town Carnival, on Saturday 24 March 2012. The theme this year is "Cape to Cairo - a journey through Africa and its people", and if you're keen to watch the procession, organisers advise getting to the Fan Walk early to secure a good viewing spot. Saturday's festivities will kick off at 5pm with a concert on the forecourt of the Cape Town Stadium featuring Chad Simon, Lloyd Jansen and the Signatures. There will also be a giant screen for the Stormers/Lions rugby match. The
