Redelinghuys – Lavender Festival

For those that have travelled up the N7 towards Piketberg and swung a sho’t left on the R366 you would know exactly where this quaint little Sandveld town lies. Redelinghuys was originally part of the farm Wittedrift. Sir George Napier handed it over on 31 December 1841 to a Mr. Hendrik Koetzee, who passed away in 1848. Thereafter a Mr. J.N.L. Redelinghuys bought the farm and offered the Church a piece of the land on the farm as a gift. Redelinghuys is a small dorpie and is most commonly known for their ground roots – Yup Folks, it is potato paradise! But rugby is not all about tries, physical competition and success; it is also a sport that gives back to fans and less fortunate communities. This is epitomised by the initiative Out of the Closet Onto The Rugby Field. Les Springboks accueillent aujourd’hui ( Samedi 12 Juin ) le Quinze tricolore au Newlands Stadium, situé à 25 minutes du centre ville de Cape Town. Par chance nous nous procurons des places avec mes amis français ! A treize heures nous nous retrouvons dans les tribunes, et encore une fois nous sommes bluffés par l’infrastructure, immense, toute en hauteur. Le stade est plein, mais silencieux à côté du Green Point Stadium … pour cause, les vuvuzelas sont ici INTERDITS ! On assiste à du beau jeu mais les Boks nous corrigent dès les permières minutes avec deux essais en dix minutes. Le score final sera très sévère et sans appel, 42 à 17.
