
It was on the 30th of April 2011, it occurred between the hours of midday and 3pm, I felt like an Italian, and ate like one too (mamma mia), it was Societi Bistro‘s menu launch jol. It was literally one of those perfect Cape Town April days, not a breath of wind, not a spurt of cloud (and consequently no rain, duh) and only the most comforting sun beaming down on Peter Weetman’s European influenced restaurant on Orange Street. Not only was I able to mingle with Cape Town’s premier socialite clique, drink outrageously more-ish (VERY more-ish) wine, but chef Stefan Marais also enticed us with platter after platter of sample dishes from the new Tour of Italy Menu.
