Slanghoek Summer Splash

Opstal Estate and Restaurant Slanghoek

December means fun for everyone! The year is winding down, holidays are around the corner and summer is in full swing with endless lists of things to see and do. One of our most recommended hangouts is the Slanghoek Mountain Resort in the heart of the picture perfect Slanghoek Valley, a mere 60 minute drive from Cape Town - a great escape from the bustling city. On Saturday the 8th of December 2012 the Slanghoek Mountain Resort are celebrating their inaugural “Slanghoek Summer Splash” – a festive season treat, fit for the whole family! Joining the valley's festive forces are Slanghoek Cellar, Opstal Estate and Jason’s Hill Private Cellar giving you the opportunity to try and test their hottest harvests as well as pair their wines

Breedekloof Festival 2012

Breedekloof festival October 2012

The Breedekloof Valley is one most scenic spots near Cape Town, less than an hour drive away it is definitely well worth the visit. One specific event in the valley to diarise is the annual Bredekloof Festival happening on Friday and Saturday, 12 and 13 October. The Festival is being hosted at Du Toitskloof Winery, situated near the foothills of the Du Toitskloof Mountains. Don your sporting summer garb and join the cellar for wine tastings and light meals at its Be Fair Deli on the Friday. Saturday can be spent tasting local wines from the valley, enjoy live music, tuck into roosterkoek, sosaties and hotdogs, or try your hand at golf chipping and French bowls, all while the kids are entertained in the children’s play area. “Soetes and Soup” in the Breedekloof Valley this weekend!

What an amazing deal to be had in the Breedekloof Valley this weekend, 24th and 25th July   -It's known as the "Soetes & Soup weekend" where you stay for two days and get the third night free! So what exactly is "Soetes"? In short its an Afrikaans word to describe fortified wines - think Muscadel, Sherry, Medium Cream Sherry, and I may stand under correction, but Port can be included as well. So if you are looking for something to warm up the cockles of your heart - get there! It's happening in the Breedekloof Valley - this area includes the towns of Rawsonville, Slanghoek,  Goudini and the Breede River. 17 on Loader Guest House will be there in spirit! www.17loader.za.net http://www.breedekloof.com/
