Calitzdorp Area

It's time once again for one of the most popular wine and lifestyle festivals in the Klein Karoo. Over the weekend of 18 to 20 May 2012, people from all over the country are going to be flocking to the port capital of South Africa for the annual Absa Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival. Now in its third year, the festival offers a celebration of the region's diversity of wines, local produce, fauna, flora and natural beauty. The organisers promise that this year it will be bigger and better, helped by a three-year headline sponsorship contract from Absa. It will be hosted by well-known port producers such as Axe Hill, Boplaas, Calitzdorp Cellar, De Krans, Du’SwaRoo, Peter Bayly, TTT and Withoek, and once again be

“Soetes and Soup” in the Breedekloof Valley this weekend!

What an amazing deal to be had in the Breedekloof Valley this weekend, 24th and 25th July   -It's known as the "Soetes & Soup weekend" where you stay for two days and get the third night free! So what exactly is "Soetes"? In short its an Afrikaans word to describe fortified wines - think Muscadel, Sherry, Medium Cream Sherry, and I may stand under correction, but Port can be included as well. So if you are looking for something to warm up the cockles of your heart - get there! It's happening in the Breedekloof Valley - this area includes the towns of Rawsonville, Slanghoek,  Goudini and the Breede River. 17 on Loader Guest House will be there in spirit! www.17loader.za.net http://www.breedekloof.com/
