Design Indaba Expo

The annual Design Indaba Conference and Expo kick off in Cape Town at the CTICC from the 27th of February to March the 3rd 2013. The Indaba is a showcase of the very best South African design products and designers. Bespoke, curated and 100% local, it's all about creative distinction! The Design Indaba Expo is the only platform that welcomes advertising, craft, decor, fashion, product design, industrial design, new media, publishing, visual art, jewellery design and graphic design, all under one roof. This year the Expo welcomes a host of new-comers including popular pop-up food shops and even the Cape Town Food Trucks. South Africa are you ready for one of the most well known recording legends in music history? Mexican-American singer/songwriter Rodriguez is in S.A. to perform 4 shows in Cape Town and 5 shows in Jozi this  February 2013! Rodriguez who allegedly disappeared into the unknown for many years after the unsuccessful launch of his album Cold Fact and was even rumoured to have set himself alight on stage in order to end his life - it turns out that all those rumours proved to be so wrong. Two enthusiastic South African fans started searching for their hero - this led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the many myths they had heard. We all remember his association with Volkswagen South Africa, when they contracted his idiosyncratic South African image to their microbus-kombi. Since then David has produced some top-class musical theatre productions including the tongue-in-cheek Breyani and more recently his collaboration with Taliep Pietersen in the hit stage production that traveled South Africa - “Kat and the Kings” Once again the legend returns to entertain us with his latest musical ensemble - Kalahari Karoo Blues. The festival of Diwali is celebrated by Hindus all over the world, you might recognise the more common phrase the Festival of lights. The festival of Diwali is an age old tradition of the lighting of clay lamps known as diyas which signify the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness. Diwali is also a joyous time of year, a time to celebrate with family and friends by lighting clay lamps around your house as aromas of freshly baked biscuits and sweetmeats wander through neighbourhoods and the night skies burst alive with a colourful display of fireworks. Diwali in Cape Town is a hit every year, this year the festival is taking place at Ratanga Junction on the 27th of October 2012. Organisers

Red Hot Chili Peppers set to Rock SA in 2013

SA has already been treated to some of the biggest visiting international music acts this year. In fact, it is bracing itself for even more superstars in the coming months. 2013 looks to be no different, as one of the biggest groups ever is set to rock Joburg and Cape Town early in the new year. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming. Premier concert organisers Big Concerts has confirmed that the 29-year-old, multi-award-winning rock super group will be performing at the famous soccer complex on February 2nd 2013. The legendary quartet will be in South Africa for two shows - the second is in Cape Town at The Cape Town Stadium on 5 February, giving local fans the chance to experience their distinctive songwriting, heavy bass grooves

For those that have travelled up the N7 towards Piketberg and swung a sho’t left on the R366 you would know exactly where this quaint little Sandveld town lies. Redelinghuys was originally part of the farm Wittedrift.  Sir George Napier handed it over on 31 December 1841 to a Mr. Hendrik Koetzee, who passed away in 1848. Thereafter a Mr. J.N.L. Redelinghuys bought the farm and offered the Church a piece of the land on the farm as a gift. Redelinghuys is a small dorpie and is most commonly known for their ground roots – Yup Folks, it is potato paradise! Some of the Cape’s best root veg are sourced right there and celebrated annually with a potato festival! The next “BIG” thing to popping out of the Redelinghuys soil is

Zebra and Giraffe, hailed as one of South Africa’s most dynamic live acts will show you just why they are when they hit the road this September to introduce fans to their latest album, The Wisest Ones. Boasting an impressive collection of awards such as the 2009 South African Music Awards win for Best Rock Album, Collected Memories, and the same year, the MTV Africa Music Awards win for Best Alternative, Collected Memories, The Wisest Ones showcases the bands desire to experiment while solidifying their roots as one of SA’s most prominent alternative-rock groups. With big plans for the future and a very busy schedule lined up, the tour takes the band to the USA in October and to Europe in early 2013, but not before one more
