Cape Town innovates in the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism awards.

    WhatsUpCapeTown was privileged to join the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism tour over the weekend, and experience, literally, the best of the winelands, while also being part of an innovative new approach to raising awareness of the initiative by blogging and tweeting about it. The tour is the brainchild of Wines of South Africa (WOSA) and the Great Wine Capitals Global Network (GWCGN) which is a network of nine major cities around the world which share a key economic and cultural asset: their internationally renowned wine regions.       New Government backing for South African wine tourism, Cape Town’s selection as the top city in the Travelers’ Choice Destination by the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor, and the inclusion of three Cape restaurants on the 2011 S.Pellegrino World’s 100 Best Restaurants list were all great news for local wineries, said industry spokesperson André Morgenthal.
