Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival, 18-20 May 2012

Calitzdorp Area

It's time once again for one of the most popular wine and lifestyle festivals in the Klein Karoo. Over the weekend of 18 to 20 May 2012, people from all over the country are going to be flocking to the port capital of South Africa for the annual Absa Calitzdorp Port & Wine Festival. Now in its third year, the festival offers a celebration of the region's diversity of wines, local produce, fauna, flora and natural beauty. The organisers promise that this year it will be bigger and better, helped by a three-year headline sponsorship contract from Absa. It will be hosted by well-known port producers such as Axe Hill, Boplaas, Calitzdorp Cellar, De Krans, Du’SwaRoo, Peter Bayly, TTT and Withoek, and once again be

Constantia Food & Wine Festival

Constantia

We do love our food and wine festivals down here in the Cape - they are the perfect excuse to experience a whole variety of tastes and flavours, all condensed in one place. Which is maybe another reason we love such festivals: we're often a bit too laid back to go out and visit each restaurant or winery. The Constantia Food & Wine Festival is back, taking place between Friday 4 and Sunday 6 May 2012 at the Constantia Uitsig Cricket Oval. Which is also convenient for those who don't like travelling too far out of Cape Town. This popular annual event showcases over 40 of the finest wines and delicious food from the valley's award-winning restaurants. Organisers promise that visitors will be treated to

STIHL Lumberjack Festival

STIHL Lumberjack Festival

Even before Monty Python sang their famous Lumberjack song ("I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day"), lumberjacks were the very epitome of butch, but sadly seem to have been forgotten. So the crazy crowd at Laugh It Off (who brought you those ultra-cool and controversial T-shirts) have decided to do something a bit out of the ordinary and organise a Lumberjack Festival at Lievland Wine Estate on the weekend of 14 and 15 April. Teaming up with chainsaw maker STIHL, they aim to capitalise on the light-hearted sentiment that exists around this bygone era, when men were tough and nature was to be tamed. The STIHL Lumberjack Festival is a carnival-crazy combination of an
