High on the slopes of Table Mountain lies the suburb Oranjezicht. The Oranjezicht farm was established here in 1709 and grew fresh fruit and vegetables that were used to supply the Castle of Good Hope and passing ships. Now, where part of the old farm used to lie, on the site of an unused bowling green, a new city farm is laying down its roots. The idea for the Oranjezicht City Farm (OZCF) first began to germinate in 2009. “Many people had the same idea,” said Sheryl Ozinsky, one of the heads of the organising team for the OZCF, “The Oranjezicht Higgovale Neighbourhood Watch, The Oranjezicht Heritage Society and many individuals in the community – it is the site of the original Oranjezicht farm, so it was clear that we

The Muizenberg Village Street festival is a celebration of living, creating, working, surfing, dancing, visiting and collaborating in Muizenberg. It is a self- created festival that draws on the collective skills, talents and input from community members to make it happen. The Mother City is set to be buzzing this weekend with visitors pouring in for the Two Oceans Marathon and the Cape Town Jazz Festival. If you prefer to work up a sweat to some soulful sax, then the CT Jazz Festival is where you'll want to be. Taking place on 3rd and 4th April across five different stages throughout the city, the renowned festival boasts a line-up that would make the Montreux Jazz Festival blush! For those of us who may have gone underground, and have missed the memo, this weekend brings the inaugural Cape Town Carnival. In South African sidewalk-style, performers and performance artists flood into the citybowl to celebrate Cape Town in carnival fashion. Thursday kicks off festivities with fashion shows at The Lookout - the V&A Waterfront. The catwalk will boast celebrity models and big-name South African designers - think the likes of hip-hop, Carducci, Kobus Dippenaar and Rosenwerth, all staged under the glass marquee of the Aston Martin rooftop.
