Luke Dale-Roberts set to open ‘The Pot Luck Club and Gallery’.


    AWARD winning chef Luke Dale-Roberts looks set to start 2012 on a high note with his new eatery 'The Pot Luck Club & Gallery', an additional source of culinary and visual inspiration for diners. 29 December 2011 marks the opening of The Pot Luck Club & Gallery, Luke’s latest culinary endeavour, situated adjacent to his award winning restaurant The Test Kitchen at The Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town. The intimate space that is both eatery and contemporary art gallery will feature a menu consisting of a multitude of ‘small plates’ of modern global dishes. There will also be a dedicated cocktail bar and an accompanying list of boutique wines to complement the varied edible creations

Beautiful Flowers @ Trovato House.


    Trovato House in Coach Road (off Herschel Walk) in Wynberg is a Herbert Baker masterpiece with a very colourful past. It is now privately owned and has been renovated amidst a very pretty garden. On Friday and Saturday, 28/29 October from 09h00 – 17h00 and on Sunday, 30 October from 09h00 – 13h00, the mansion will be open to the public. It will have been decorated by the Western Cape Association of Flower Arrangers' Judges' Panel and the resulting floral display will be of world class. A number of the arrangers have recently returned from the World Flower Show in Boston, U.S.A. and all representatives from the Cape achieved prizes. 13th Annual Quenton Steele Benevolent Fund Golf Day.


For the past 13 years, some members of the Fish Hoek community have organised a golf day to raise funds for Quenton Steele, a local father and husband, who became a quadriplegic and ventilator dependant, as a result of a rugby scrum accident in 1997. Imagine… You are confined to a chair. All you can move is your head. You breathe with the aid of a ventilator through a hole in your throat (trachea). You are completely dependant on others to scratch your ear; wipe your nose; remove a mote from your eye; loosen your clothing when you are too hot and to feed you. These, without mentioning the more personal needs, are a few examples of Quenton’s dependency on others. Besides his family he needs at least two caregivers to meet his

‘Cultural Contrasts’ Exhibits @ The Gallery, Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate.

    ‘The Gallery’ at the award-winning Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, Franschhoek, proudly presents a solo exhibition, ‘Cultural Contrasts’, by celebrated Pretoria-based artist, Willie van Rensburg, which opens on Sunday, 16 October 2011 at 11h00 with the Director of the Association of Arts Pretoria, Pieter van Heerden, as the opening speaker and runs until 16 November 2011. The title of the show makes references to the contrasts of historical African traditions and contemporary African society. Inspired by these elements, the artist apply masks and symbols in his work with bold design and colour, in order to establish a contemporary approach to the preservation of the symbolic
