Sadly, museums are suffering a bit in the digital age as they try to compete with the internet and Discovery Channel, which is why International Museum Day was launched in order to raise awareness about the role of museums in our society, and how people can rediscover museums. Cape Town is blessed with some fine museums, and on Friday 18 May, all the Iziko Museums (except the Castle) will be open free of charge, so there's no excuse not to pay them a visit and broaden your horizons.
