Taste the Helderberg

Taste what the Helderberg has to offer this winter! The 5th annual Taste of the Helderberg is set to take place on Thursday 6th June 2013. The event showcases more than 100 local wines - more than enough to keep you warm and cosy during winter. The Helderberg wine route has more than forty wineries, of which twenty five of the wine producers will be available to chat at the Taste of Helderberg. This year, the event will be held at NH Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West. A limit of 500 tickets on sale makes this particular event a far more intimate affair with time to really get to know the men and women behind the wine and food. It’s the week after AfrikaBurn, and I’m sure most attendees are still nursing their hangovers. If they made even half the effort to keep themselves as thoroughly hydrated with fine spirits as people always do for music festivals, they’ll still be in pain come Friday. AfrikaBurn is definitely not a festival for the weak of constitution: set in the Karoo desert, it has become an unmissable event if you are even remotely into art, camping or both. Usually, the Karoo is a pretty boring place to visit, unless one happens to be into deserts or cattle farming, but the festival changes that completely. Riebeek Valley Olive Festival
