Personal Trainer in Cape Town: The best of the best is back in business!

Mikael-Mendonca-personal-trainer-cape-town

It is great to hear that Mikael Mendonca is back in the business of personal training, and is now based in the Renaissance Body Science Institute, 183 Bree Street, Cape Town. His return to the RBSI is primarily motivated by the fact that personal training still is, and always will be in his blood. By his account, he has missed being on the training floor, aiding and assisting people in obtaining their personal health and fitness goals. Mikael is a highly qualified specialist in the medical/wellness/fitness field, and his achievements on the sports field contributed greatly to his success as a Personal Trainer and lifestyle coach. His services include working on achieving specific goals for weight gain; (or weight loss as the

Mayhem hits the Mother City

Mother City Mayhem

Roller Derby is a ladies contact sport played by two teams of five members on old school style roller skates. Now don’t loose us with the lingo, here’s how the game goes… game play consists of a series of short matchups referred to as "jams" in which both teams nominate a scoring player called the "jammer" - this member is responsible for scoring points by lapping members of the opposing team. The teams attempt to assist their own jammer while hindering the opposing jammer — in effect, playing both offense and defence simultaneously. Does this tickle your skate buds? Well Cape Town has its very own Roller Derby league and anyone can join the league, but you must pass certain skills tests to be cleared for scrimmages and

Ryans² Run, bring your dog not your horse

Ryans Run Constantia Green belt 19 August 2012

Once upon a time two mates Ryan and Ryan, surnames Sandes and Scott agreed to meet at Vida e Cafe in Constantia for a pre-run coffee. Unfortunately the doors weren’t open yet and they were eager-beavers, so Scott challenged Sandes to run to the Vida e Caffe in Camps Bay. And so, Ryans² was born. Since the last social run they organized, Ryan Sandes (acclaimed ultra marathon champ) has been to the Blue Mountains in Australia and won over 100km’s, he then came second in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range run covering over 160km’s! Phew… as if that is not enough, he then blitzed the fish river canyon solo and met up with Scott in the Pyrenees of France for a more casual jog. It is not likely you have covered as many miles

Ride your bicycle this #moonlightmass

Moonlight mass Cape Town City cycling

The City of Cape Town rocks… Period! It is just one of those cities that ignites a desire within every one of us to explore every nook and cranny, soak in EVERYTHING! The Non Motorised Transport system is growing in popularity rapidly - making us more conscious of those moments when you sit in your car, going round and round the block looking for that parking to open... rather stop and re-think your mode of transport... Cycling is the new black, so get out of your car and get on ya good ‘ol faithful bicycle chaps. #moonlightmass is the brain child of Daniel Graham and Elad Kirshenbaum - an uber cool social cycling experience highlighting the fact that Cape Town has an embarrassingly high carbon emission rate that could be

Passionate about penguins? Then Waddle for a Week

Waddle for a Week

If you've driven between Gansbaai and Betty's Bay this week, you may have noticed a bunch of people dressed in black and white waddling along the road, sporting signs reading "Hoot for Penguins". We're in the midst of Waddle for a Week, organised  by the Two Oceans Aquarium to raise awareness about the plight of the endangered African penguin. Currently, there are only about 60 000 penguins in the wild, and scientists believe they could be extinct in the wild within 15 years. Following the success of last year's event, animal trainers across the country are walking, er, waddling, 130km between penguin colonies at Dyer Island near Gansbaai and Boulders Beach near Simonstown between Monday 16

Movember: Love your health, love your tash, man!

https://www.facebook.com/SavannaCider

All around the world, during the month of November, men compete to cultivate the most outrageous moustaches possible. If you’re concerned it’s a new long lasting fad, never fear – it’s Movember – and with their Mo’s these men aim to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular, and other cancers that typically affect men. Notoriously, men are either indifferent towards their own health (believing they’re invincible) or are scared stiff when it comes to confronting serious health issues. So let’s get men talking and testing and support the Mo Bros - and at the same time support CANSA. This is such a serious topic,
