Cape Town to Dublin by Scooter

Cape Town scooter addictsWe all know that South Africa isn’t for sissies and naturally we are all born with a set of giant kahunas! And size does matter here – however it is not only the size of the kahunas but rather the size of these four guys hearts. Christopher Venter, Hein Gerber, Dave Manor and Ian Chamberlain are the official Ambassadors for the charitable journey that departs Cape Town and lands in Dublin 8 months later to assist with raising funds and awareness for the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

The Red Cross Children’s Hospital Trust raises funds for vital paediatric healthcare needs like purchasing medical equipment, specialist training programmes for doctors and nurses from all over Africa, building projects and upgrades. The Trust works closely with the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Western Cape Government: Health to identify priority areas in the Hospital requiring critical building upgrades. The Trust also supports smaller organisations who interact closely with the Hospital, and whose work impacts the field of paediatric healthcare in the Western Cape.

The massive scooter riding expedition starts at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town in February 2013. The route takes the guys up the length of Africa, then through the Middle East and right across Europe, visiting 14 different Children’s Hospitals en route the last of which is Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
