Ask people what their favourite things about winter are and chances are that comfort food, fireplaces and gorgeous wine will feature. The clever people of the Durbanville Valley are making these available to us at the Soup, Sip and Bread Festival this weekend, the 2nd and 3rd of June, in a one of a kind food and wine-pairing event.
Think unique perspectives on hearty soups, gorgeous wines and artisan breads: twelve wine farms will present their interpretations on these winter favourites on each of their respective estates. These are Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, D’Aria, De Grendel, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Hillcrest Estate, Klein Roosboom, Meerendal and Nitida. The programme is varied and each farm’s offering so distinct that it is just too difficult to choose just one! Gather family and friends and spend quality time together soaking up the ambience on some of these special places, while indulging in hearty winter fare.
The festival is hosted on all twelve participating farms, so check out the programme in advance and decide which farms you would prefer to include on your culinary sojourn. Advance booking is definitely recommended as places are limited.
