The Sugarhut Club to spice up Cape Town’s nightlife

Cape Town has a new concept in nightlife entertainment to spice up the East City Precinct.

Taking inspiration from the UK-based franchise of the same name, The Sugarhut features themed bar areas, laid-back lounges and world-class fusion food. Conveniently situated in the heart of downtown Cape Town’s up and coming East City Precinct, the venue is spacious enough to accommodate the jet-set party crowd, yet intimate enough to appeal to older, more discerning customers.

Comprised of a series of individually themed zones, décor at the The Sugarhut is elegant and enchanting. Boho-chic meets ultra-glamourous with a combination of low-slung lanterns and sparkling crystal chandeliers, with fluorescent hot pink and cool blue highlights; smooth dark wood with rough exposed brickwork; leather with velvet, and mirrored surfaces with rich gold and copper-toned embellishment.

The interior design team from local design agency Sugar Bakers sought to create variety within the space in order to appeal to a variety of moods, tastes and mindsets. The Birdcage Room features a collection of birdcages as an original centrepiece, opulent patterned wallpaper and checkerboard flooring. The Peacock Lounge takes its name from striking peacock blue cushions, and The Opium Den is all about the esoteric, with raised oversize couches and a mystical gold Buddha.

The Sugarhut offers a selection of entertainment options making it the ideal venue for celebrations, special occasions, romance, after-work drinks and corporate functions. Jazz and Salsa bands will alternate every Wednesday night throughout January, while Friday nights are Burlesque. The beat is as diverse as the décor, with music ranging from Shanghai Jazz to Brazilian Bosanova. Bliss out in the Saffron Lounge, sip cocktails and snack on canapés at the extravagant Gold Bar, or belly dance the night away on the Monsoon Dance floor. For a breath of fresh air, there’s an all-weather outdoor deck area complete with stunning mountain views.

The Sugarhut officially opens its doors on Friday, 21st January. Therafter it is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 17h00

Cocktail Specials from 17h00 – 19h00 on Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays
