Design, Art and Sales

The Christmas season brings that feeling of looming budget-stretching. Eat out everyday, party cares away – that's how Cape Town does the silly season and, we admit, keeping up can be a strain. Luckily, a selection of lady Cape Town's artists and designers, have brought us empathetic solutions to the seasonal strain.

Start off the morning with a Garage Sale. Nope, not used jockstraps and one-eyed teddy bears, this Garage Sale is only a Garage Sale by location. Swinging into the sunshine with lemonade and pancakes as of 10AM, Cape Town artists (including our infamous Faith47) commune to show their wares tomorrow (16th Decmber), in a goods-filled garage. The rendezvous point is Eldorado Garages, 3 Military Rd, Tamboerskloof til 2pm.

For those of you that don't know G-mo shoes, "tut tut" I say.  These superbly gifted siblings create unique pairs of shoes for unique yous and can tailor to request. Furthermore, they just expanded their men's range and brought out some great kicks. In collaboration with the Cape Town-based clothing label Pink Ant, these kick-making kids are throwing a festive season clearance sale! For those of you that thought gift-giving and self-spoiling would have to take place in the identical rows of chain stores, think again:) This saucy-clad sooiree will take place most of the day tomorrow, 16th of December, at Pink Ant Studio D-floor Adderley building, 25 Adderley street, Cape Town (CBD).  For further details please contact them on 0732381315.

I also know that down an alley-way opposite Rick's Cafe` in town (somewhere abouts) there is a jewelry/clothing sale. The details were sent by smoke signal and are a bit hazy – but if you're up for exploration check it out.

This Thursday, 1st Draft publishing launches from 18h00 onwards, at Vida E on Kloof. Books and prints will be on sale, as they start off with the release of their, "How to Write a Novel", featuring ill illustrations from locals. Posters and signed copies will be on sale.

Mothercity T-shirt moguls Mingo Lamberti (if you're thinking "what the hizzzayang is this girl talking about, I swear you know their work, even if it's not by name), Hello Again, Muti and (my favouritest, with his retro references) 2BopII and Citizen Band, are having a sweet-Tee sale this Friday! (the 18th). This takes place at Vida on Kloof from 18h00 onwards and all tees are only R100.

Last but not least, for those seeking something a something for a someone creative, sneaker addicts are starry-eyed at Shelflife's "customize-your-kicks" Christmas Hampers.

Alrighty, duty done. I reckon that's enough of a trend top-up for today;) Hope to see you lot out and about!

  1. thanks for that
