KOCH UP

Starring CONRAD KOCH
TUESDAYS to SATURDAYS until 27th JUNE 2009

Tickets R85 per person
Conrad Koch, SA’s numero uno ventriloquist, brings you his best show yet! He’s directed this time around by theatrical genius, Heinrich Reisenhofer. He’s awesome, except that his puppets have joined a union and gone on strike. Damn. He wants to tell you that it’s all going to be okay, but it’s not up to him. It’s up to a bad ass bunch of renegade dummies who think he’s an idiot – and they want you to know it.
Ronnie, a green monster who Conrad has raised since birth, is going to try to get you into the sordid world of puppet porn. He is joined by Chester, previously employed by the SABC, but has now gone political and wants control of the show to go back to the workers. Then there is Julius Malema, the puppet. Everyone has one nowadays, but this is the puppet who never made it into the Nando’s ad. And lastly we meet Hilary – ostrich, socialite and wannabe icon – she’s going to sing whether you want her to or not.

The show is however not just a show of dexterity and speed, but a real ode to the values and character of roots music, Dan’s passion being to bring that side of roots music to a new generation.

His blues, fiery bluegrass and power slide guitar tunes recall anything from Stevie Ray Vaughn to Hendrix, but of course always with the South African twist, he is one of us. In New Orleans and London Dan has been called one of the best young blues artistes around and the best ever to come out of the southern hemisphere. But make up your own mind about our homeboy whilst he’s on home turf this winter.

Dan also brings his latest CD entitled REAL with him – so make sure to grab one!

ADAMSAPPEL

TWO SHOWS ONLY – SUNDAY 30th and MONDAY 31st AUGUST 2009
Tickets R89 per person

adamsappel is an a capella group (a capella = singing without instruments) consisting of nine young, talented men who were brought together by a shared love of music.

The appels, as they’re often called, really like the connotations of their name to their vocal abilities. They are equally comfortable offering temptation by means of classical and contemporary music. They do jazz, and everything else, with a bit of pizzazz. Their style represents the point where hip meets wholesome. They are a familiar face at music festivals, private parties, corporate shows and celebrity weddings alike, whilst their launch of their debut album in May this year has earned them regular appearances on TV during recent months.

NADINE

THIS TIME I KNOW

Tickets R99 per person

Nadine, who has been in the music industry for the past 13 years and shared the stage with The Spice Girls, Jonathan Butler and Billy Ocean to perform in front on Prince Charles and Nelson Mandela has released an album entitled ‘THIS TIME I KNOW’. It is as good, if not better, than any other adult contemporary and pop album on the global stage. Her crystal clear emotive voice, somewhere between Celine Dion and Toni Braxton, was the calling card for recording this world-class album. Nick Manic, international songwriter and producer, who worked with Simon Cowell, was instrumental to the unfolding of her new album, with the first radio single, This Time I know it’s for real, charting the top of many South African radio stations. With album sales of more than 500 000 units, Nadine is undoubtedly one of the South African music scene’s hottest artistes.

Book early to avoid missing this brilliant star!
